Apple Wonderlust Event 2023: Everything you need to know

Michael

Every September, like clockwork, tech enthusiasts worldwide eagerly anticipate the annual Apple event. This year, the tech giant has christened its event Apple Wonderlust, scheduled for September 12 at 10 am Pacific Time. The event will be streamed live on Apple's website and the Apple TV app, ensuring that Apple aficionados worldwide can tune in to the latest revelations.

The star of the show is expected to be the iPhone 15. This year's line-up will feature four different variations of the device: the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and the

iPhone 15 Pro Max (potentially dubbed "Ultra"). The new iPhone range will bid adieu to the lightning port, embracing the universal USB-C standard, a feature that has been commonplace on Android phones for some time.

But the iPhone isn't the only device getting a refresh. The Apple Watch Series 9 is set to improve on the Series 8, with the second-generation Apple Watch Ultra also rumoured to be on the horizon. On the software front, Apple is expected to announce the release dates for iOS 17 and watch OS 10.

Apple's last event, WWDC23, held in June, saw the unveiling of the 15-inch M2 MacBook Air, Mac Studio with M2 Max and M2 Ultra, Mac Pro with M2 Ultra, and the announcement of Apple Vision Pro, their first "spatial operating system" device.

However, this year's September Apple Wonderlust event seems to lack the usual fanfare, possibly due to the minimal changes made to the iPhone. The Pro version appears to be a rather iterative upgrade over the iPhone 14 Pro, with the only significant changes being the port, a slightly improved camera, and a more lightweight design.

The mobile market has seen a revolution in the past couple of years with the advent of folding and flip phones, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5. These innovative designs are beginning to lure some consumers away from Apple's more streamlined approach. It's only a matter of time before Apple joins this trend, but it seems that won't be happening this year.
